I’ll experience this a few times a year…
It’s a feeling I think you might be able to relate to…
“What have I done this year?”
Or…
“What am I proud of achieving so far this year?”
Or…
“How much progress have I made toward my goals?”

The feeling can take many forms. It’s all about feeling like you haven’t achieved as much as you thought you would. And if you’re the kind of person who likes to improve themselves… it’s likely you’ve experienced this many times.
It’s easy to beat yourself up over what you “think” you haven’t done. To wish you had done more. Or to have put more time into something.
But here’s the thing about these feelings…
Sometimes they’re false.
Our brain likes to play tricks with us and make us believe we’re worse (... or better) than we actually are. So here’s something interesting I’ve done recently to help me with this…
It’s to write a list of all the things you’ve done so far this year. I’m not talking about the “biggest” things I’ve achieved… although they can go on the list. I’m talking about the little things too.
Making a list like this can do two things…
- You might find out that you’ve done more than you thought you had.
- This might be a wake up call and you find out that you haven’t done much at all.

I don’t know which one it’ll be for you. (I know I’ve experienced both when I’ve created these lists before.)
I’m going to do this for myself. If enough of you want me to share my list… I’d be up for sharing. (But only if you ask.)
If you want to try the exercise, let me know how you found it.
Ask yourself... what are you proud of this year?
